HOP Electric Mobility signs MoU with Rajasthan govt to expand capacity – ET Auto

New Delhi: Jaipur-based e-mobility firm, HOP Electric Mobility, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan government to expand its product portfolio and production capacity. The company plans to launch 10 new products and produce about 1.8 lakh e-scooters a year. The EV maker has an 80,000 sq ft manufacturing plant in Jaipur that produces 7,500 units/month. It can be expanded to 15,000 units/month. Moreover, the company is gearing up to launch at least ten new products within the next three years, HOP said in a media release.

Ketan Mehta, CEO and founder, HOP Electric Mobility, said, “This MoU will work as a catalyst as we aim to strengthen our electric mobility system by leveraging futuristic technology and meticulous R&D.”

“We are evaluating different states to set up more assembly units. According to the facilities and support provided by the states, we’ll be investing close to INR 100 crore and generating over 3000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.”The EV maker aims to expand its footprint to Gujarat, Telangana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand and plans to open at least 120 dealerships across the country.

Hop Energy Network, an integrated network of battery charging cum swapping stations, is designed to reduce the range anxiety of the customers. They can charge a Hop electric scooter at home, or swap to a fully-charged battery when outside, the release added.

Earlier this month, the Ghaziabad-based company had announced the roll-out of a range of EVs–two-wheelers and three-wheelers (passengers and cargo)– both for B2B and B2C segments under its own brand.

To further its efforts, the brand will be maintaining a focus on developing 100% ‘Made in India’ EV mobility through its manufacturing units based in Pune
